No, this isn’t a headline from The Onion:

Romney to campaign in Portland on Friday

AUGUSTA, Maine — Former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential nominee frontrunner Mitt Romney is expected to campaign in Maine on Friday, just one day before the state GOP releases results of its presidential preference poll.

Maine GOP Chairman Charlie Webster told The Associated Press that Romney is expected to speak Friday evening at a rally at Portland Yacht Services.

What is “Portland Yacht Services?”

Portland Yacht Services is a full service Boatyard and Marina, providing customers with a full spectrum of services for outfitting and maintaining a motor or sailing vessel. Our dedicated staff handles all types of storage, maintenance, refits, and restorations on any type of boat or yacht.

This is the photo on the masthead of its website:

Mitt, really?  Really!

I don’t care if Portland YACHT Services services dinghies, when you’re trying to look like a man of the people when you aren’t, you don’t go anywhere near a place called Portland YACHT Services.

Hello!  Anyone home?

Unbelievable.

Portland Yacht Service, is a full service boat yard that does work on vessels from pleasure yachts to working lobster boats.Portland Yacht Services does community outreach programs like SailMe, which gets children from all walks of life in Greater Portland on the water sailing, but it also houses nonprofit organizations that educate the community about Portland’s past. See Narrow Gauge Rail Road. So in a place like Maine in which boat building is the third largest manufacturing industry, I don’t think going to a boatyard is ridiculous. Get informed. Learn about the community and the demographic.

Hey, I hear you. I’m just saying that for the 330+ million Americans who don’t know what the Portland Yacht Services does, all they’re going to hear and know is the word YACHT and I think the Romney campaign is laughably tone deaf not to know what. Get it?

That is why I say get informed. Educate yourself before you assume and put some spin on it. When you assume… ‘you make an a$$ out of u and me.’ It is this type of mentality that puts people who ought not to be in office. Citizens are charged with the responsibility to inform themselves before they vote. Listen to the facts and decide for themselves, read through the bias and spin tactics. I am not necessarily for Romney, but before I jumped to the same conclusion as you did I did some research about this venue, the state of Maine and tried to understand the move that he has made. I guess I will see how he approaches the rally before I jump down his throat. Just think if the 330+ million people in our country (well actually 200 million because many of them are not of voting age or are ineligible) had spent the same 15 minutes for me to inform myself, we would live in complete harmony.

I agree completely, that people should inform themselves, BUT THEY DON’T. They’ll hear the word yacht and that will be it. It will be Romney+yacht=rich guy who doesn’t relate to me.
