USA Wins Again — We’re #1 in the Developed World in Teen Pregnancies

The U.S. teen birth rate is the highest in the developed world with about 400,000 infants being born to mothers ages 15-19 every year, federal officials say.

Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta analyzed data from the 2004 to 2008 Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System — self-reported pre-pregnancy contraceptive use among white, black and Hispanic females ages 15-19 with unintended pregnancies resulting in live birth involving 27 states and approximately 75 percent of all live U.S. births.

Fifty percent of these teens were not using any method of birth control when they got pregnant, and of these 31.4 percent said they believed they could not get pregnant at the time.

Twenty-one percent said they used a highly effective contraceptive method, 24.2 percent used the moderately effective method of condoms and 5.1 percent used the least effective methods, such as rhythm and withdrawal.

Thanks to the religious right, a whopping 31.4% of teenaged girls who gave birth said “they believed they could not get pregnant at the time.”  The way a female human being gets pregnant isn’t all that complicated.  But thanks to a lack of sex education — to allegedly prevent teen pregnancies — young girls in the United States don’t understand the simple mechanics of that.
The American Taliban is condemning our kids, and the kids they have when they’re kids, to an incredibly difficult life but hey, winkey, winkey (look the other way), thank God they aren’t having sex!  Phew.

Certainly makes me proud to be an American! We’re #1 not only because of ignorance about birth control, but also because our teenagers happen to be horny little devils. It’s those damn youthful hormones! Will the religious wrong ever learn?

Will they ever learn is right. They deny human nature by thinking if they don’t talk about sex it won’t happen. Love that ahem, reality-based philosophy.
